Boko Haram attack in Adamawa
Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have attacked a community in Adamawa State, killing a former councillor and abducting his two sons in a fresh wave of violence that has thrown residents into mourning and fear. The deadly attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of the day when the armed men stormed the community, firing gunshots as they moved from house to house.
According to residents, the attackers targeted the home of the former councillor, forcefully gaining access before killing him at close range. His two sons were then taken away by the gunmen into the surrounding bush. The sudden and brutal nature of the attack caused widespread panic, as many villagers fled their homes in search of safety.
Security forces have been alerted to the incident, and a search operation has been launched to rescue the abducted youths and track down the attackers. Authorities said troops have been deployed to the area and surrounding locations to prevent further attacks and restore calm. The bodies of the slain ex-councillor have been released to his family for burial amid tight security.
The attack has renewed concerns over the persistent threat of Boko Haram in parts of the North-East, despite ongoing military operations. Community leaders have called on the federal government to strengthen security in rural areas and ensure the safety of residents who continue to live in fear of repeated attacks.
