Charlotte bus driver “Ms Sharon” charged with multiple child sex crimes
A former school bus driver in Charlotte, North Carolina has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse involving minors. The man is Leetwain Darrell Tate, aged 48, who is also known by the names “Sharon” and “Ms Sharon”.
Police say Tate faces two counts of statutory rape, six counts of indecent liberties with a minor, and one count of statutory sex offense. The alleged victims are four boys aged between 14 and 15 years.
Tate was formerly employed as a bus driver at Sugar Creek Charter School. He was suspended during the ongoing investigation and officially fired toward the end of September 2025. Authorities emphasized that none of the alleged incidents occurred on school property or while Tate was driving a bus route.
He is currently held in the Mecklenburg County Jail and a bond of US$1 million has been set. The police suspect there may be more victims, and they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
