Defence Minister Christopher Musa vows to end innocent bloodshed
Nigeria’s new Defence Minister, Major General Christopher Musa (rtd), has declared that the “days of shedding innocent blood are over” as he officially assumed office. Speaking at his inauguration, he emphasized that his leadership will focus on protecting lives, restoring peace, and strengthening the operational effectiveness of the armed forces across the country.
Minister Musa highlighted that the Nigerian military will prioritize the safety of civilians while conducting operations against insurgents, bandits, and other criminal elements. He assured the public that the defence ministry will implement strategies that minimize collateral damage and promote humane and lawful military conduct.
He also stressed the importance of collaboration between the military, police, and intelligence agencies to ensure that security challenges are addressed comprehensively. According to Musa, modernizing equipment, enhancing training, and improving coordination will be key pillars in reducing violence and protecting communities.
The defence minister further called on citizens to support security efforts by providing credible intelligence and cooperating with law enforcement agencies. He warned that criminal networks will no longer find safe havens, adding that the government is determined to end the culture of impunity and protect innocent lives.
His remarks have been welcomed by many Nigerians, who hope that his tenure will bring tangible improvements in national security. Analysts note that Musa’s statement sets a clear expectation for a more disciplined and civilian-focused approach to military operations across the country.
