Delta State woman arrested with 178 live cartridges
A 62-year-old woman has been arrested in Delta State after authorities discovered a sack containing 178 live cartridges in her possession.
According to a statement by the state police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, operatives from the Bomadi Division intercepted a motorcycle along the Bomadi–Tuomo Road on 30 October 2025 at about 12:30 pm. The cyclist appeared uneasy and was carrying the woman, later identified as Charter Timide. A thorough search revealed the sack containing the cartridges, which the woman admitted she had purchased from Onitsha Main Market.
She confessed to buying the cartridges and investigators are now following leads to determine the intended destination and the purpose behind the delivery. The exhibits and the suspect have been transferred to the state headquarters for further probe.
This arrest is part of a broader crackdown by the Delta State Police Command on illegal arms-and-ammunition trafficking. In recent months, similar operations have resulted in arrests and seizures of large quantities of live rounds and weapons.
