DisCo announces three-day power outage
A power distribution company in Nigeria has announced a planned three-day electricity outage in parts of its coverage area as part of scheduled maintenance on its network.
The announcement was made by Ikeja Electric, which said the temporary power interruption is necessary to allow technical teams to carry out critical upgrades and maintenance on power infrastructure. According to the company, the work is aimed at improving electricity supply reliability and preventing unexpected outages in the future.
In a public notice issued to customers, Ikeja Electric stated that the outage will occur over a three-day period and will affect several communities across its service areas. Residents and businesses in the affected locations were advised to make necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled interruption.
The company also released a list of the affected areas expected to experience the power disruption during the maintenance period. Officials explained that the temporary outage is required to ensure the safety of workers carrying out the technical operations and to facilitate the successful completion of the upgrade works.
Customers were urged to remain patient while the maintenance activities are underway. Ikeja Electric assured residents that electricity supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the planned work.
Power supply challenges remain a major concern for many Nigerians, and distribution companies often carry out periodic maintenance in order to stabilize the grid and improve service delivery to consumers.
