Veteran Nigerian music producer and label executive Don Jazzy, born Michael Collins Ajereh, has stated that while he is financially capable of acquiring a private jet, he currently has “more important things to take care of.” In public remarks, he acknowledged the prestige associated with owning an aircraft, but emphasised his priority remains investing time and resources into his business, talent development, and long-term growth rather than immediate luxury.

In September 2023, Don Jazzy took to social media to express a desire to own a private jet like fellow artiste Davido, noting the inconvenience of commercial travel when he tweeted: “Na New York I wan go … Now I have found myself in Raleigh-Durham … One day we sef go be @davido. Private Jet is needed. Baba GOD run am.” However, he has since tempered ambition for the aircraft, pointing instead toward channeling his resources into building his brand, supporting upcoming artists under his label Mavin Records, and strengthening his business foundation.

Industry observers say his remarks reflect a broader shift among Nigerian creatives and entrepreneurs, who increasingly focus on sustainable investments and legacy building rather than conspicuous consumption. For Don Jazzy, this means directing earnings into talent scouting, production infrastructure and long-term artist development rather than immediate status symbols. His past comments have also cautioned against habitual luxury spending, advising upcoming artists not to let first-class travel or private jets become norms before establishing financial reserves
