Edo government gives former deputy governor one week to return state assets
The Edo State Government has issued an ultimatum to former Deputy Governor Godwin Omobayo to return all state-owned assets in his possession within seven days.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, vehicles, documents and other official items assigned to Omobayo during his brief tenure have not yet been surrendered, despite prior reminders. The statement notes that the continued retention of such assets constitutes “a clear breach of public trust and unlawful possession of state assets.”
The statement warns that if Omobayo fails to comply within the stipulated period, the state government will direct the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, to effect his arrest and recover the assets through lawful means.
