Ex-convict arrested for beating girlfriend to death over ₦100,000 dispute

An ex-convict, identified as Omokinwa Ademola, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police after allegedly beating his girlfriend, Joy Jimoh, to death during a dispute over money he had borrowed from her. The incident reportedly took place in Idanre Local Government Area on October 7, 2025, around 5:30 p.m.

Police say the argument was about ₦100,000 that Ademola had owed Joy Jimoh. Tensions escalated, and Ademola allegedly assaulted her repeatedly until she lost consciousness. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical practitioner.

The case was reported to the Idanre Divisional Police by a woman named Ngozi Gregory. After the report, detectives arrested the suspect. His remains were moved to the morgue for post-mortem examination. The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Adebowale Lawal, condemned the act as a brutal act of domestic violence. He stated that the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for a thorough investigation.
