Five arrested for vandalism and armed robbery in Anambra
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with vandalism and armed robbery following a coordinated security operation in the state. The arrests were made on the evening of December 8, 2025, when operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu, working with officers from the Neni Divisional Headquarters, tracked down the suspects during a follow-up investigation into a case of conspiracy and robbery linked to the theft and damage of property at an international company in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area.
Police public relations officer Superintendent Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed that the five male suspects were taken into custody after they were found to have been involved in the alleged crimes. During the operation, officers recovered a pump-action firearm, ten live cartridges, and a black motorcycle believed to have been used in the unlawful activities.
The suspects, whose ages range from late teens to early twenties, reportedly confessed to their involvement in vandalism and armed robbery during interrogation. They also named a major receiver of stolen properties, prompting police to expand the investigation to track other fleeing accomplices and recover stolen items.
Authorities say the arrests demonstrate the police command’s commitment to tackling property crime and violent offences in Anambra State. Efforts to apprehend additional suspects linked to the conspiracy are ongoing as part of broader anti-crime operations aimed at restoring public safety and discouraging similar criminal activities.
