The government of Gombe State has announced with deep sorrow the death of the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Colonel Abdullahi Bello (retired).

According to the official statement, Colonel Bello lost his life in a road accident on Friday, occurring along the Malam Sidi–Gombe road. He was returning from Maiduguri in Borno State where he had attended a regional consultation on a national Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration (DDR) programme.

The accident also claimed the life of his police orderly, Sergeant Adamu Husaini. The commissioner’s driver sustained injuries and is receiving treatment.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the news as “heart-breaking” and paid tribute to the late commissioner as a disciplined officer whose experience, leadership and patriotism had contributed significantly to the state.

The statement emphasized that Bello’s contributions to internal security policy, inter-agency coordination and community safety in Gombe State will be remembered as pillars of his service.

The state government extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and the Balanga Local Government community. It also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured driver.
