Governor Diri orders autopsy on deputy governor
Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has ordered a full autopsy to determine the exact cause of death of the state’s Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. The directive was given following the sudden passing of the deputy governor, which has continued to raise questions and public concern across the state and beyond.
Governor Diri said the decision to conduct an autopsy is aimed at ensuring transparency and putting an end to speculation surrounding the circumstances of the deputy governor’s death. He explained that the government owes the family, the people of Bayelsa, and the general public a clear and factual account of what led to the tragic loss. According to him, the outcome of the medical examination will help provide clarity and closure.
The governor described the late deputy governor as a committed public servant who played a vital role in the administration and governance of Bayelsa State. He noted that the death was a major shock to the government and people of the state, adding that all official protocols would be followed in handling the matter with dignity and respect.
State officials have assured that the autopsy will be carried out by qualified medical experts and in line with established procedures. Funeral arrangements and further announcements, they said, will be guided by the outcome of the investigation and consultations with the family of the deceased.
