Ivan Toney arrested London headbutt
Reports say Toney was arrested early Saturday morning after an altercation at a bar in Soho, central London. The trouble allegedly began when a fan approached him and tried to take a selfie, reportedly placing his hands around Toney’s neck. Witnesses claim the footballer responded by head-butting the individual.
Police from the Metropolitan Police Service were called at about 00:47 hours following reports of assault. Officers arrested a 29-year-old man later confirmed as Toney on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray. The alleged victim was taken to hospital with injuries including a broken nose; the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Toney has since been released on bail while investigations continue. Footage shared online shows him being led out of the venue in handcuffs, echoing media descriptions of the scene.
The incident has already stirred debate online, with some users arguing that Toney might have acted in self-defence after being grabbed without consent, while others have criticised the alleged violence as excessive.
