Kebbi police arrest suspect over murder of 25-year-old man
Police in Kebbi State have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old man whose body was found in a forest earlier this week. Residents of Ngaski Local Government Area raised the alarm after the lifeless body of Ibrahim Yahaya, aged 25, was discovered by the roadside in Bakin Dutsi Forest at about 8:30 in the morning on Tuesday, prompting urgent calls for security support in the area. Acting swiftly on credible intelligence gathered during initial investigations, operatives from the Kebbi State Police Command tracked down and arrested a 20-year-old man identified as Aminu Adamu of Yauri Local Government Area at about 2:20 in the afternoon the same day. The suspect was reportedly found in possession of a Haojue motorcycle believed to have been stolen from the deceased, raising further concerns about robbery accompanying the fatal attack. The police public relations officer, Superintendent Bashir Usman, said the arrest followed intensive efforts by detectives launched immediately after the discovery of the victim’s body, and that the case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation and possible charges. Authorities assured the public that the command remains committed to bringing all those involved in violent crimes to justice and has stepped up measures to prevent similar incidents, particularly along the forest routes that are often targeted by criminals due to their remote nature. Residents were urged to assist security agencies with credible information that could help in curbing violent crime and improving safety across the state.
