Man arrested for killing motorcyclist in Bauchi
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation. He admitted to plotting the killing so he could steal the motorcycle and sell it to raise money for his intended marriage. The victim’s body was later found dumped in a remote area, while his motorcycle was traced to a buyer who unknowingly purchased it from the suspect.
Police spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed that the suspect was apprehended following an intelligence-led operation. He added that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, after which the suspect will be charged to court.
The authorities condemned the act, warning that the command will not tolerate crimes motivated by greed or harmful cultural practices. The victim’s family has since been notified, and arrangements are underway for his burial according to Islamic rites.
