Mercy Johnson says her kids bullied at school over witchcraft claims
Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has spoken out about a painful consequence of false social media narratives, revealing that her children are being bullied at school because of fabricated accusations about her. In a video she shared on Instagram, Johnson explained that unfounded claims that she is a witch have spread across online platforms, and those rumours are now affecting her family’s daily life. She said that some parents have told their children not to let her kids touch their school bags because of the witchcraft allegations, and that her teenage children are being ostracised and bullied by classmates as a result.
The actress linked the school bullying directly to the defamatory content circulating online and warned that anyone making serious allegations must be prepared to prove them in a court of law. Johnson said she has already launched some legal actions and will continue to pursue others, emphasising that the attacks on her reputation and her children’s wellbeing will not go unanswered. She urged bloggers and social media users to leave her family alone and stop spreading lies that have real-world consequences on her children’s experiences at school.
Johnson’s comments come amid her broader fight against online defamation, including recent legal action against individuals she says are responsible for circulating damaging stories. She described the entire situation as upsetting and stressed that her priorities are her husband and her children, not public criticism.
