Mr Macaroni criticises Senate over failure to summon President
Comedian and activist Mr Macaroni (Adebowale Adedayo) has again sharply criticised the Nigerian Senate, describing it as “useless” because lawmakers have failed to summon the President on behalf of the people amid worsening insecurity.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), he argued that every arm of government including the President, ministers, governors, senators, and members of the House of Representatives is supposed to be accountable to Nigerians. According to him, the Senate should exercise its power to demand answers from the executive when citizens are under threat but appears to be abdicating this role.
He wrote:
“You can’t even summon the President and ask questions on behalf of the people of Nigeria that you ought to be representing!! But they know how to share our money … and oppress Nigerians with the same power the people have given to them! Embarrassing lots!!!.
Mr Macaroni also took aim at President Bola Tinubu, holding him responsible for the growing insecurity, kidnappings, and terrorism in the country.
