Mr Macaroni vows legal action over rape accusation
Nigerian comedian and activist Mr Macaroni (Adebowale Adedayo) has strongly denied an online accusation that he defiled a 17-year-old girl and used the police to intimidate her family. He described the claim as a “horrendous and distasteful” lie deliberately spread by a supporter of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his response on X (formerly Twitter), Mr Macaroni said he normally would not dignify such a post with a reply, but given the gravity of the allegation which accuses him of rape he felt compelled to act. He stated that the accuser’s profile showed a pattern of praising the APC and attacking government critics.
He went on to say he is preparing legal action against the individual, calling the accusation a form of “propaganda” from political opponents. He insisted that he strongly refutes the claim and will not allow such defamation to pass without consequences.
Mr Macaroni has often spoken out against the misuse of power, especially when people use political connections to silence critics. He has repeatedly urged people to take defamation cases to court instead of relying on police intimidation.
