NDLEA busts Lagos drug warehouse
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has uncovered a large illicit drug warehouse in Lagos, recovering opioid consignments valued at over N6.7 billion. The bust followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance by NDLEA operatives who tracked the movement of the drugs before moving in on the location. Officials said the warehouse was being used as a major storage and distribution hub for illegal substances across different parts of the country.
According to the agency, the recovered drugs included large quantities of highly controlled opioids believed to have been smuggled into Nigeria through complex supply routes. Several suspects were arrested during the operation, while others are currently being tracked. The NDLEA described the discovery as one of the biggest seizures recorded in recent times within Lagos.
NDLEA leadership said the operation was part of a wider national crackdown on drug trafficking networks and organized crime. The agency stressed that the size and value of the seized drugs point to a well-funded syndicate with deep connections. Investigations are ongoing to identify all individuals and partners involved in the illicit operation.
The agency warned that drug barons will find no safe haven anywhere in the country. It also called on the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely information, noting that community intelligence plays a major role in successful operations like this.
