NDLEA raids Lagos nightclub, arrests Pretty Mike and over 100
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos have raided a nightclub and arrested its owner, popular socialite Pretty Mike (real name Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu), along with over one hundred patrons following credible intelligence about a drug-themed party. The raid took place at the venue known as Proxy Nightclub, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos State.
According to the NDLEA’s statement issued through its spokesperson, the operation was initiated after officers embedded themselves in the club from around 11:00 pm on Saturday, 25 October 2025. At approximately 3:00 am on Sunday, 26 October, the agency disrupted the gathering and took action in line with standard operating procedures. Cartons of illicit substances, including “Loud” cannabis and laughing gas (nitrous oxide) were recovered from both attendees and the club’s store.
During the raid, Pretty Mike—who is the proprietor of the nightclub—and numerous other individuals were detained for screening. Over 100 suspects were taken into custody. The NDLEA noted that further investigations would determine appropriate charges and any further legal action.
The chairman/CEO of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retired), commended the officers involved in the raid and emphasised the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug-trafficking and abuse networks, including those operating within nightlife venues.
This development has reignited discussions about the role of nightclubs in facilitating the illicit drug trade and the regulatory responsibilities of club owners and venue managers. It also places spotlight on enforcement of drug laws in Lagos’s entertainment sector.
