Ned Nwoko demands Regina Daniels undergo rehab
Ned Nwoko, the Nigerian senator and husband of actress Regina Daniels, has publicly insisted that his wife must undergo rehabilitation amid allegations of drug-related problems. He said his primary concern is her health and the welfare of their two young children.
Nwoko told journalists that medical toxicology reports have shown “alarming high levels of harmful substances” in Daniels’ system. He said her once calm personality has changed in recent months, with recurrent health crises and what he described as violent and destructive behaviour.
“I want her alive and healthy, not just for me, but for our children,” he said. “We have two young kids together, and they cannot fight for themselves. I’m going to fight for them by safeguarding their mother.” He added: “Many people have died of drug overdose, and if anything happens to her now, what will I tell her children tomorrow?”
He claimed that over the past eight months, he has had to carry her to the hospital unconscious on three occasions due to alleged drug overdoses, naming Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja as one of the facilities.
In his view, rehabilitation is not optional. He said the programme would help ensure she is in the right state of mind to raise their children and would help prevent her from accessing drugs while she recovers. He asserted that anyone advising against proper medical care in rehab was acting against her best interests and those of their children.
Nwoko also accused Daniels’ siblings and close friends of undermining her recovery by supplying her with illicit drugs. He pointed in particular to her brother, whom he claimed played a role in enabling the alleged addiction.
The controversy comes amid a broader marital crisis between the two, with Daniels previously accusing Nwoko of physical abuse, a claim he denies, attributing her behaviour to substance abuse instead.
It remains unclear whether Daniels has agreed to enter rehabilitation or which facility she may attend. The public nature of these allegations raises serious questions about her health, the welfare of the children, and the extent to which family and legal dynamics will shape the next steps.
