Senator Ned Nwoko has publicly responded to a viral video in which his wife, Regina Daniels, and her family claimed he sent thugs to beat her. In his version of events, Nwoko denied all allegations of domestic violence and characterised the footage as a “Nollywood script” orchestrated by Regina and her siblings.
According to a statement posted by Nwoko, the video showing his wife making distressing claims was filmed inside his residence while he was not present. He asserted that the scene was staged by Regina’s brother Sammy, her sister Destiny, and others as part of a planned act. The senator accused them of enacting the drama to attract attention and described the entire affair as fabricated.
Nwoko went further to allege that his wife has been struggling with drug addiction, and that several family members including the siblings he named have repeatedly introduced her to substances, undermining her treatment. He claimed that his efforts to separate her from those he described as enabling her relapse were met with resistance when her siblings allegedly forced their way into his home with the purpose of supplying drugs.
He also claimed that he provided financial support for Sammy including buying music equipment and furnishing an apartment in Abuja but that the sibling failed to change his behaviour. Nwoko implicated the mother of Regina Daniels, Rita Daniels, in the enabling environment. He stated that the family presented their lifestyle as a “celebrity” facade in which substance use was normalised.
The allegations that triggered this response originated in earlier claims by Regina Daniels and her family that Ned Nwoko orchestrated an assault by thugs against the actress. The senator’s rebuttal shifts the narrative to one of manipulation and orchestrated drama rather than an act of violence. The matter appears to now be deeply personal and complex, involving family conflict, accusations of drug use, and public image.
