Ondo court orders woman to return ex-husband’s deep freezer
A court in Ondo State has ordered a woman to return her former husband’s deep freezer after she admitted selling it to feed herself and their children. The case was brought before the court after the man reported that his property had been taken without his approval following their separation. During the hearing, the woman explained that she sold the freezer because she had no other source of support and needed money to provide basic necessities for the children.
The court acknowledged the challenges she faced but ruled that her action violated the legal rights of the former husband, especially since the freezer was his personal property and not part of any shared settlement. The woman was instructed to either return the freezer in its original condition or provide the exact monetary value of the item within a specified period.
The ruling also advised both parties to prioritise the well-being of their children and settle further disagreements through lawful and peaceful channels. The decision emphasised the importance of resolving family disputes with transparency to avoid future legal conflicts.
