Ondo sex-trafficking ring job recruitment content creation
A major breakthrough has been reported by the Ondo State Police Command in Nigeria, where a syndicate specialising in sex-trafficking has been dismantled in a successful raid. According to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, Olushola Ayanlade, operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit arrested one suspect, identified as Jayeola Joshua, along with two others, while they continue to hunt further accomplices.
The scam was operating under the pretext of legitimate employment and social-media “content creation”. Young women aged between 20 and 26 were lured from different parts of the country with offers of domestic work, ushering services, overseas jobs, or roles as social media influencers. Upon reaching their destination in Akure (Alagbaka), the victims were accommodated in a rented apartment which served as the syndicate’s base of operations. There they were coerced into creating nude images and videos which were then transmitted to clients procuring sexual services.
A total of 15 young women were rescued from the apartment during the operation. They have been taken to the Police Hospital in Akure for medical attention, psychological evaluation and counselling. The Command has also directed investigators to invite the apartment’s landlord for questioning and has transferred the case to its Gender Desk for further investigation and the safe reintegration of the victims.
The Commissioner of Police has issued a firm order that all suspects must be prosecuted and has reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy for human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Parents and guardians are being urged to verify job offers and recruitment agents thoroughly before allowing wards to travel or accept positions, as this case underlines the danger of fraudulent recruitment schemes.
