The Onishe of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, HRH Obi Barrister Edward Ofulue III, hosted a grand cultural celebration as the traditional Iwu Festival was transformed into a colourful carnival. The event, led by the revered cultural figure Asika, brought together sons and daughters of the Ubulu Kingdom from across Nigeria and the diaspora to honour their ancestral traditions.

The festival, held in Ubulu-Uku, Delta State, showcased the community’s vibrant cultural identity through traditional dances, masquerades, music, and displays of indigenous art. The streets were filled with joyous chants, drumming, and colourful attire that reflected the town’s deep-rooted heritage.

Asika, who played a central role in coordinating the cultural segments, turned the annual festival into a spectacle of unity and celebration. He emphasized the importance of preserving the customs passed down through generations and encouraged the youth to embrace the values that strengthen their identity.

The Onishe, during his royal address, praised the efforts of the organisers and expressed gratitude for the peaceful conduct of the festival. He urged all indigenes of Ubulu-Uku to continue fostering harmony and respect for their cultural institutions.

Community leaders, cultural enthusiasts, and dignitaries who attended the festival commended the organisers for reviving the spirit of the Iwu Festival and promoting cultural tourism in Delta State. The event was described as a perfect blend of tradition and modern celebration, marking a new chapter in the preservation of the Ubulu-Uku heritage.
