Paga, PayPal enable account linking for Nigerian users to receive cross-border payments
Nigerian fintech company Paga and global payments giant PayPal have launched a major new integration that allows Nigerian users to link their PayPal accounts directly to their Paga wallets to receive cross-border payments and withdraw funds locally in naira. The service officially went live on January 27, 2026, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s digital payments landscape and expanding access to global money flows for individuals and businesses in the country.
Under the new arrangement, Nigerians can connect their PayPal accounts with their Paga digital wallets and start receiving international PayPal payments, a function that was previously unavailable due to longstanding restrictions on inbound PayPal transfers within Nigeria. Users will be able to withdraw funds locally in naira, use the money for everyday needs, transfer to bank accounts, and spend with Paga’s linked card services, providing a smoother bridge between global incomes and the local economy.
The partnership also opens up opportunities for Nigerian freelancers, online sellers, and entrepreneurs seeking global clients and international earnings, as they can now access PayPal’s extensive network of over 400 million users worldwide. Merchants can tap into this customer base while settling payments locally through Paga’s infrastructure. PayPal and Paga executives said the integration was designed to enhance financial inclusion and support participation in the digital economy by making international funds easier to access securely and efficiently.
