Police train 100 officers in combat operations in Anambra
The Nigeria Police Force has trained 100 officers from the Anambra State Command in specialized combat operations as part of efforts to strengthen security and tackle rising insecurity in the state.
The training programme, organized by the police command, focused on equipping officers with advanced tactical skills needed to confront armed criminals, insurgents, and other violent groups operating in parts of the state. Authorities said the initiative is aimed at improving the operational capacity of officers deployed to high-risk areas.
According to the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, the training covered combat readiness, intelligence gathering, counter-terrorism techniques, weapons handling, and coordinated response strategies during security operations. The programme also included practical field exercises designed to prepare officers for real-life security challenges.
Security officials explained that the newly trained personnel will be deployed across different parts of the state to reinforce ongoing operations against kidnapping, armed robbery, and attacks on public institutions. The command believes the specialized training will improve response time and operational effectiveness when confronting criminal threats.
In recent months, security agencies have intensified operations across Anambra State as part of wider efforts by the federal government to restore stability in the South-East region. Authorities say collaboration between the police, other security agencies, and local communities remains essential in addressing the security situation.
Police officials also urged residents to support security efforts by providing credible information that could help prevent crimes and assist in the arrest of criminal suspects.
The Anambra Police Command assured the public that it remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue strengthening the capacity of its personnel to maintain peace and order across the state.
