Shettima promises economic relief for Nigerians
Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that the economic hardship currently being faced will soon come to an end. He spoke at different public forums, appealing for patience, understanding, and collective sacrifice as the government works to correct deep-rooted problems and implement tough reforms.
Shettima acknowledged that many of the policies in place are difficult, especially for ordinary citizens, and admitted that these steps are “telling on the poor.” He emphasized that the current phase of reforms is part of a necessary transition from the “broken past” toward a future with better economic stability and inclusive development. He stressed that the government does not intend to punish citizens with these reforms and that easing the pains remains a priority.
He also urged Nigerians to respond to the current situation in a “responsible and mature manner,” and to understand that change takes time. Shettima expressed confidence that soon there will be positive shifts in key economic indicators like inflation, food security, GDP growth, per capita income, and poverty reduction.
