Six Palestinians killed in Gaza ceasefire violation

Six Palestinians were killed in Gaza after Israel opened fire on individuals who, according to the Israeli military, crossed a designated boundary in the northern Gaza Strip in violation of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement.

The incidents occurred in two separate locations. In the Shujaiya neighbourhood, several people returning to their homes came under drone fire after allegedly encroaching a “yellow line” marking the initial area of Israeli pullback under the ceasefire. In a separate event in Al-Fukhari, Khan Younis, another person was killed by a drone attack.

Israel says it fired warning shots first and tried to stop the suspects, but claims they continued to approach the troops, leaving the military with what it said was no option but to open fire.

The timing comes just after Hamas released the last living Israeli hostages and Israel reciprocated by releasing Palestinian detainees as part of the ceasefire deal.
