South Africa convict posing as recruiter arrested for luring jobseekers

A convicted sex offender in South Africa, known for luring female jobseekers under the pretext of employment, has been arrested following reports from victims and a coordinated law enforcement effort. The suspect allegedly approached women with promises of work, then transported them to isolated locations where he robbed and assaulted them.

The KwaZulu-Natal provincial police say the suspect took the victims to a secluded area near Gandhi Park after arranging a meeting in Westham. After the assaults, RUSA officers identified and apprehended him based on descriptions given by the victims. Criminal charges are being prepared, and he is expected to appear in court soon.

Authorities are urging jobseekers to exercise extreme caution when responding to unsolicited job offers, especially from unknown individuals. They warn that fraudsters often abuse job recruitment as a means to exploit and harm vulnerable people. The police emphasised that legitimate employers do not demand private meetings in secluded areas without verifiable credentials.
