Tinubu crush bandits in North
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned a recent surge in bandit attacks, insisting that his administration will not allow any part of the country to “bleed in silence.” Speaking through a representative at the Arewa Consultative Forum’s 25th anniversary in Kaduna, Tinubu vowed to crush bandits and restore peace in the volatile North. He described the security crisis as “deep, layered and sophisticated,” but reassured Nigerians that his government is committed to resolving it.
Tinubu emphasized the importance of the Northern region to Nigeria’s overall progress, saying lasting development requires stability in the area. He pointed to upcoming oil production in the Kolmani fields and other energy projects as potential turning points for regional growth.
On infrastructure, he highlighted major projects underway including rail, road, and water transport expansions. Among these is the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano superhighway, which he pledged will be completed soon.
Tinubu also praised the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) as a moral voice for the North, calling its members “patriots, thinkers, mediators” who should help drive peace and development. He urged Northern leaders traditional, political, and civil society to embrace courage, justice, and responsibility for their communities.
He expressed concern over the erosion of trust and moral values in Northern communities, warning that insecurity threatens the region’s social fabric. Yet he remained hopeful, saying rebuilding trust across communities is essential for enduring peace.
Tinubu also endorsed the proposed ACF Endowment Fund, praising its focus on girl-child education, youth development, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution.
In his remarks, he framed leadership as a moral duty, warning that failure in the North would come if its leaders abandon their responsibility to protect their people.
