President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed his commitment to eradicate banditry and terrorism in Northern Nigeria, warning that under his watch, no part of the country will be allowed to “bleed in silence.”

Speaking at the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) in Kaduna, where he was represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Tinubu described the security crisis he inherited as “deep, layered and sophisticated.” He insisted, however, that his administration’s resolve to restore peace is strong and unwavering.

Tinubu emphasized that the North is crucial to Nigeria’s overall progress, saying that meaningful national development is impossible if such a vital region remains destabilized. He expressed optimism about the region’s economic future, citing upcoming oil production from the Kolmani fields and other emerging energy projects as “turning points” for regional growth.

On infrastructure, he highlighted major ongoing projects, including accelerated rail, road, and water transport initiatives. Among them is the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano superhighway, which he said will be completed and commissioned soon in Kano.

Tinubu also praised the ACF for its longstanding role in the North. He called the forum “a reservoir of patriots, thinkers, mediators and moral voices” who have defended the interests of millions. He urged Northern leaders in politics, traditional institutions, and civil society to uphold the values of courage, justice, and collective responsibility.

He warned that the region’s moral fabric has weakened, saying insecurity in the North threatens its communal ethics and trust. But he insisted that hope remains, noting that rebuilding trust across communities is crucial for lasting peace.

Tinubu also backed the proposed ACF Endowment Fund, calling it “visionary.” He said its focus on girl-child education, youth skills development, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution aligns with his government’s priorities.

In his remarks, Tinubu framed leadership as a moral duty. He warned that the North could only fail “if leaders retreat from their responsibility to be their brothers’ keepers.”
