Tinubu vows to crush banditry and boost agriculture
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged stronger support for Nigeria’s agricultural sector while vowing to intensify efforts to crush banditry and terrorism across the country. He made the commitment while addressing stakeholders on national security and food production, stressing that both issues are closely linked to Nigeria’s stability and economic growth.
Tinubu said agriculture remains a top priority of his administration because of its role in food security, job creation, and rural development. He assured farmers of increased government backing through improved access to inputs, financing, and security, noting that many farming communities have been badly affected by violent attacks in recent years. According to him, restoring safety in rural areas is essential to boosting local food production and reducing dependence on imports.
On security, the President reiterated his determination to defeat bandit groups and terrorist networks operating in different parts of the country. He said security agencies have been given clear directives to take decisive action, improve intelligence coordination, and protect lives and property. Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria will not surrender any part of its territory to criminals or extremists.
The President explained that economic growth cannot thrive without peace, adding that insecurity discourages investment and worsens poverty. He said his administration is pursuing a combined strategy that addresses both military action and the underlying social and economic factors that fuel violence, including unemployment and underdevelopment.
Tinubu also called for cooperation between the federal government, state authorities, and local communities to ensure lasting solutions. He urged citizens to support security agencies with credible information and to remain hopeful as reforms take shape. The pledges come amid ongoing concerns over rising food prices and persistent security challenges in several regions of the country.
