Tonto Dikeh has publicly shared a deeply personal testimony, revealing how the Holy Spirit has healed her from seven major struggles she once faced.
In an Instagram post titled “7 Things the Holy Spirit Healed Me From,” the actress-turned-politician listed out the wounds and behaviours she says God has restored her from. She opened up about a past marred by rage, depression, and self-destructive thoughts, including a suicide attempt, explaining how faith became her turning point.
One of the healing breakthroughs she mentioned is having been healed from anger—she shared how rage once ruled her life and caused damage in her relationships and peace. She also said she was freed from pain and emotional suffering that “lived in her and was breathed by her,” emphasising how pain had been a companion until her faith intervened.
Crucially, she spoke of being healed from sexual immorality, explaining how she now views intimacy differently: “Celibacy has been one of the most powerful experiences of my life. It is not suppression; it is strength,” she wrote. Through this transformation, she claimed to have re-trained her heart “to be disgusted by intimacy without love,” aligning her actions with what she now believes to be God’s purpose.
Tonto also shared that the healing brought about restoration in relationships—she recounted how she was reunited with her sister and repaired familial bonds long broken. As a result of all this, she emphasised that her peace is now “sacred” and no longer negotiable: “If it does not feed my spirit, it does not deserve my energy,” she wrote.
Her testimony underscores a shift from a life once dominated by self-destructive behaviours and emotional chaos, to one she describes as grounded in purpose, faith and spiritual clarity. Whether one agrees with every point or not, her openness contributes to broader conversations about healing, mental health and faith in Nigeria’s public sphere.
