
Two arrested over attempted murder and motorcycle snatching in Kogi
Two suspects have been arrested in Itobe community in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State over a case involving attempted murder and motorcycle snatching. According to a statement from the Kogi State Vigilante Service, on October 20, 2025, operatives apprehended the suspects identified as Omika Isah and Stephen Garuba at their separate hideouts following a reported attack.
The incident began when the victim, commercial motorcycle rider Yunusa Salihu, was lured into the Ettutu forest in the Itobe community. There, he was severely assaulted and left for dead before the perpetrators made off with his motorcycle. He survived after being found and taken to a medical facility in critical condition.
Those arrested confessed to the crime and admitted involvement in similar offences in the area. Authorities recovered the victim’s stolen motorcycle and his mobile phone from the suspects. The vigilante service has handed over the two suspects to the appropriate security agency for further investigation and prosecution.
