WAFCON 2026 Super Falcons set for friendly double-header against Cameroon.
Nigeria’s women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, have stepped up their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) by scheduling a friendly double-header against long-time rivals Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital. The two international warm-up matches are set to take place within the FIFA Women’s International Window from February 24 to March 7, 2026, with the first game scheduled for Saturday, February 28, and the second encounter on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. This series of friendlies will allow the Super Falcons, who are defending champions and ten-time African title holders, to fine-tune their tactics and boost match fitness ahead of the continental tournament in Morocco. The match arrangements were confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in collaboration with the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), with both federations completing logistical preparations for the fixtures. The comeback meetings revive a familiar rivalry and offer valuable competitive exposure before the 2026 WAFCON finals, where the top four teams will qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Brazil, adding extra significance to these preparatory matches.
