
White House security gate car crash arrest
A man was taken into custody late Tuesday night after driving his car into a security gate outside the White House complex in Washington, D.C., according to a statement by the United States Secret Service (USSS).
The incident occurred at approximately 10:37 p.m. at the vehicle gate located at 17th Street and E Street NW, on the south side of the White House grounds. Officers from the Secret Service’s Uniformed Division immediately arrested the driver at the scene.
Authorities searched and inspected the vehicle with assistance from the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia and confirmed it posed no threat. No injuries were reported, and the White House itself was not placed on lockdown, although some closures around the complex remained in place as the investigation continued.
As of now, the Secret Service has not released the driver’s identity, the type of vehicle involved, nor the motive behind the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
