Wike challenges Obi over eight-year vs two-year achievements

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has challenged former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi to compare Obi’s record from his eight years in office with what Wike says he has achieved in just two years as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Wike made these remarks while commissioning new roads in the Mabushi District of Abuja. He accused Obi of criticizing conditions in FCT public schools even as he failed to fully deliver on projects during his governance of Anambra.

Wike claimed that in just two years in the FCT, his administration has awarded over a hundred contracts in the education sector, renovated dozens of schools, and completed many road projects. He contrasted this with Obi’s tenure in Anambra, alleging that much of the state’s funds were placed in a bank where Obi had personal interest rather than being invested in infrastructure. Wike said many projects remained unfinished in Anambra and that his critics should acknowledge the progress made under his leadership.

He also accused Obi of using symbolic gestures and social media criticism rather than focusing on constructive service and development. Wike argued that Obi’s criticism of FCT schools was politicized and that leadership should not be measured by high-profile appearances but by tangible improvements in the lives of citizens.
