Jigawa man arrested with 56 fake $100 bills
A 33-year-old man identified as Lawan Isa was arrested by the Jigawa State Police for alleged possession of 56 fake US$100 bills. The arrest took place at about 5:00pm on October 5, 2025, at Gidan Lage Market under the Ringim Division.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, said that operatives acting on credible intelligence conducted the operation. He added that four Android phones and a keypad handset were also recovered from the suspect.
When questioned, Isa did not give a satisfactory explanation for the fake currencies in his possession. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further investigation.
The police said this arrest is part of ongoing efforts to maintain security and curb criminal activities across Jigawa State. Residents are urged to assist by giving useful information to authorities.
