I’m Strict When It Comes to Dating, Says Teniola Aladese
Nollywood actress Teniola Aladese has opened up about her dating life, revealing that she is currently not in a relationship while describing herself as a strict person when it comes to matters of the heart.
Aladese made the disclosure during an appearance on Pulse Nigeria’s “Drink or Spill,” where she was asked about her current relationship status. She responded that she was trying her best, clarifying that although she does date, she was not seeing anyone at the moment.
Asked to name the most dramatic celebrity she knows, the actress mentioned fellow Nollywood star Bisola Aiyeola, describing her as one of the most dramatic celebrities she has ever met, while adding that Aiyeola remains one of her favourite people and someone she genuinely loves.
Speaking further about her approach to relationships, Aladese described herself as strict when it comes to dating, though she pushed back on the idea that this made her difficult, arguing instead that her approach reflects a healthy level of firmness rather than rigidity.
The actress also identified being overly analytical as one of her biggest personal red flags, explaining that her tendency to overanalyse situations is closely tied to her preference for open communication in relationships.
On her on-screen chemistry with male co-stars, Aladese revealed that her preferred pairing has shifted over time, naming actor Uzor Arukwe as a past favourite before settling on Taiye Arimoro as her current top pick.
The candid conversation adds to a series of recent public remarks Aladese has made about her personal life and dating philosophy. In an earlier appearance on the “I Said What I Said” podcast, the actress had described the dating scene in Lagos as stressful and chaotic, while revealing that her social media inbox is frequently flooded with messages from suitors. She had also disclosed a clear preference within the film industry, stating she has no interest in dating fellow actors but would be open to relationships with producers or directors instead, without elaborating on her reasons for the distinction.
Aladese, who began her career behind the scenes as a production manager before transitioning into acting, rose to prominence through her role in the Africa Magic drama series “Jemeji” and went on to win the Trailblazer Award at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), cementing her status as one of Nollywood’s most promising young talents.
