Rey Fenix Retains AAA Cruiserweight Title Against Ricky Saints
Rey Fenix successfully defended the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship against Ricky Saints during WWE SmackDown on Friday, October 30, 2026. The champion emerged victorious in a hard-fought rematch, ending Saints’ latest attempt to take the title.
WWE confirmed that Fenix defeated Saints with the Mexican Muscle Buster. The bout followed their previous championship encounter, which ended in a disqualification after Saints shoved the referee. That result had left the rivalry unresolved and set up another title opportunity for the challenger.
Saints gets another title opportunity
The rematch was part of “Danhausen’s Very Nice, Very Evil SmackDown,” which aired from Charleston, West Virginia. WWE had promoted the contest as a chance for Saints to dethrone Fenix after the earlier disqualification.
The two wrestlers entered the match with a tense rivalry, and Saints was determined to leave with the championship. However, Fenix once again proved difficult to overcome, using his speed and high-impact offence to keep the challenger under pressure.
According to Wrestling Inc., Fenix opened strongly and took the action outside the ring with a Tope Con Hilo. Saints later gained momentum by sending the champion over the announce table and attempting to remove Fenix’s mask.
Fenix survives a competitive battle
The match featured several near falls as both wrestlers searched for a decisive opening. Saints connected with a superplex and a Death Valley Driver, but neither move was enough to secure the championship.
Fenix also faced resistance when he attempted to finish the contest with a rolling cutter. Saints countered and delivered a Tornado DDT, keeping the champion from putting the match away.
The challenger continued to fight back, but Fenix eventually found the opening he needed. After Saints escaped the first attempt at the Mexican Muscle Buster, Fenix managed to hit the move on a second try.
WWE’s official results confirmed that the Mexican Muscle Buster gave Fenix the victory and allowed him to retain the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
Championship rivalry continues
The victory strengthened Fenix’s position as champion, while Saints was left without the title despite receiving another opportunity. Their previous disqualification and the competitive nature of the rematch have kept attention on the rivalry.
The match was one of several championship contests featured on the October 30 SmackDown broadcast. WWE’s results also recorded Chelsea Green retaining the Women’s Championship against Nikki Bella, while Sami Zayn defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Trick Williams.
For Fenix, the result means his title reign continues after another demanding defence. Saints, meanwhile, will need to find a new path toward the championship after failing to convert his rematch into a victory.
