Tonto Dikeh Says Her Reconciliation With Olakunle Churchill Has Helped Other Women Heal Their Relationships
Nollywood actress and evangelist Tonto Dikeh has revealed that her reconciliation with her former husband, businessman Olakunle Churchill, has gone on to inspire at least 10 women to reconcile with their own partners, after they reached out to her seeking guidance on forgiveness and healing.
Dikeh shared the reflection in a post on social media, describing how her personal journey with Churchill prompted an outpouring of messages from women navigating similar struggles in their relationships. “Ever since my reconciliation with my ex-husband, hundreds of women have reached out asking the same question: How did you learn to forgive?” she wrote. While she said she was unable to respond to everyone who reached out, she explained that she made a point of personally connecting with women whose experiences closely mirrored her own.
According to Dikeh, that outreach has since borne fruit for a number of the women involved. “While I couldn’t reply to everyone, I reached out to those whose pain mirrored my own. Today, to the glory of God, at least 10 women have been reconciled, restoring peace, healing hearts, and stepping into healthy co-parenting,” she said, adding that she believes God has turned her own personal story into what she described as a tool for restoration.
Dikeh also used the moment to encourage other women who may still be holding on to bitterness from past relationships to consider the value of forgiveness, framing it as something done primarily for one’s own benefit rather than for the person who caused the hurt. “If you are carrying bitterness today, please hear this: Forgiveness is never for the person who hurt you; it is for you. It is the key to moving your life forward,” she said, adding that true closure ultimately comes from God rather than from other people.
Dikeh and Churchill were married in August 2015 and welcomed their son, King, in February 2016, before their marriage ended in 2017 amid public allegations of infidelity and domestic abuse. The pair spent years in a public and often contentious relationship following their split. However, in January this year, Dikeh surprised many when she extended an olive branch to her former husband, publicly reconciling with him after what she described as a decade marked by public battles, deep wounds, broken communication, bitterness and pain. Speaking at the time, Churchill said the reconciliation served as a reminder of what he described as God’s ability to make the seemingly impossible happen, and expressed gratitude to Dikeh, referring to her as an excellent mother to their son.
The following month, the former couple came together to celebrate their son’s 10th birthday with a large party attended by several notable figures in Nigerian entertainment, including Obi Cubana, Zack Peju, Rita Edochie, Uche Elendu, Empress Njamah and singer Teni. At the celebration, Dikeh publicly praised Churchill for his role as a father, affirming what she described as her godly love for him and extending well wishes for his family and businesses.
Dikeh’s latest comments suggest that her and Churchill’s public reconciliation has continued to resonate well beyond their own relationship, with the actress positioning her experience as an ongoing source of encouragement for other women working through similarly difficult chapters in their own relationships.
