Ghanaian actor Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye, popularly known as Strika, best remembered for his breakout role in the 2015 Netflix war drama “Beasts of No Nation,” has reportedly been sentenced to one year in prison after he was allegedly caught stealing metal railings from a footbridge in Accra.
According to reports, Strika was apprehended by residents near the Kwashieman footbridge in August 2026 while allegedly cutting off metal railings from the structure, reportedly intending to sell the material as scrap. Video footage of the confrontation, shared on social media on August 29, 2026, showed residents surrounding him at the scene, with the clip spreading rapidly across social media platforms and drawing an outpouring of reaction from Ghanaians and international fans who remembered the actor fondly for his performance alongside Idris Elba in the acclaimed film.
Details of the reported sentencing emerged through Official Gunshot GH, a close associate of Kumawood actor and content creator Dr Likee, who previously served as one of Strika’s caretakers. According to Official Gunshot GH, Strika informed him during a phone conversation that he had appeared before a court and received a one-year prison sentence, and that he was scheduled to be transferred to Nsawam Prison, one of Ghana’s main correctional facilities, on Monday, September 14, 2026, to begin serving his term.
