Ariana Grande Lands Sixth No. 1 Album in Australia With Petal
Ariana Grande has notched another major career milestone after her eighth studio album, “Petal,” debuted at No. 1 on Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, marking the sixth time the pop superstar has topped the country’s all-genres national survey.
The achievement extends an impressive run for Grande in the Australian market, following previous chart-topping releases including “My Everything” in 2014, “Dangerous Woman” in 2016, “Sweetener” in 2018, “Thank U, Next” in 2019, and “Eternal Sunshine” in 2024. She also reached the summit last year in a joint capacity alongside actress and singer Cynthia Erivo with the soundtrack to “Wicked: For Good.”
Beyond claiming the top spot on the main albums ranking, “Petal” also debuted at No. 1 on Australia’s Vinyl Chart, underscoring strong demand for the project across both physical and digital formats. The album made an equally significant impact on the ARIA Singles Chart, placing 12 of its tracks within the national Top 50, including several entries within the Top 10. With the release, Grande’s lead single “hate that i made you love me” climbed back to its previous peak of No. 2, while the album’s title track debuted at No. 5, lifting her overall tally of Top 10 singles in Australia, including collaborations, to 22.
Grande’s success places her at the top of an all-female podium on this week’s chart, ahead of Olivia Rodrigo, whose album “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” climbed to No. 2, and Olivia Dean, whose “The Art of Loving” rose to No. 3. Elsewhere on the chart, Australian indie rock band Dice recorded a career-best chart performance as their album “I Thought the Altitude Would Make It Worth the View” debuted at a new high, surpassing the No. 27 peak achieved by their 2024 debut. On the ARIA Singles Chart, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” held the top spot for a ninth non-consecutive week.
The success of “Petal” has extended well beyond Australia since its release on July 31. The 12-track project reportedly generated more than 62 million Spotify streams worldwide on its first day alone, with every song on the album simultaneously entering the platform’s Daily Global Chart. The title track debuted at No. 1 on the Global Spotify Chart, marking Grande’s second global chart-topping single of 2026. Within days of release, the album is reported to have surpassed 500 million total streams, with Grande remaining the platform’s most-streamed artist worldwide during that period. Early industry projections also suggest “Petal” is on course for a Billboard 200 debut of more than 300,000 equivalent album units in the United States, positioning it among the year’s biggest album openings.
To further extend the album’s rollout, Grande has released official instrumental and a cappella editions of “Petal,” along with several additional digital-exclusive versions, continuing to build momentum around the project in the weeks following its release.
