BBNaija’s Tolanibaj Accuses Former Employee of Stealing and Selling DJ Academy Equipment
Reality television personality Tolani Baj, popularly known as Tolanibaj, has publicly accused a former employee of stealing and selling DJ equipment belonging to her academy, with the matter now in the hands of the police, who have arrested two people allegedly involved in purchasing the stolen items.
According to the former Big Brother Naija star, she dismissed the employee, identified only as Precious, after uncovering the alleged theft, and subsequently sent members of her staff to retrieve the missing equipment from the accused’s residence. However, the team reportedly discovered that Precious was no longer at the address by the time they arrived. Tolanibaj said she later learned that the DJ controllers had allegedly already been sold, and that Precious had gone as far as contacting another disc jockey in an apparent attempt to rent replacement equipment to cover up the alleged theft.
Tolanibaj said the matter has since been formally reported to the police, and confirmed that two individuals who allegedly purchased the stolen controllers from Precious have been arrested in connection with the case. She added that one of the stolen controllers has already been recovered as part of the ongoing investigation, though Precious herself remains at large and is currently wanted by law enforcement.
Explaining her decision to make the incident public rather than resolve it privately, Tolanibaj said she had initially intended to handle the matter quietly but ultimately reconsidered her approach. She proceeded to share details of the case with her followers on social media, appealing to the public for assistance in locating the fugitive former employee. She specifically requested that anyone with credible information regarding Precious’s whereabouts reach out to her directly through a dedicated contact channel to help authorities apprehend her.
The incident adds to a growing list of public disputes involving Tolanibaj this year, following an earlier episode in which she was compelled to publicly debunk claims that she owed a former associate, identified as Bright O, one million naira. In that case, she shared screenshots of past conversations to refute the allegations, explaining that her decision to cut ties with the individual in 2023 stemmed from a separate incident in which he had allegedly stolen from her and abused her trust.
As investigations into the DJ equipment theft continue, Tolanibaj’s case highlights a recurring challenge faced by small business owners in Nigeria’s entertainment and creative sectors, where instances of alleged staff misconduct and asset theft have become an increasingly common subject of public discussion, particularly when high-profile figures choose to address such matters openly rather than resolve them privately.
