Cristiano Ronaldo Wedding: Star Married In Front Of Just Four Witnesses, Signed Pre-Nup
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez kept their long-awaited wedding remarkably intimate, marrying in a private civil ceremony at the footballer’s mansion in Cascais, Portugal, on August 11, 2026, with only four witnesses present alongside their five children.
Newly emerged details from the couple’s marriage certificate, first published by Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias, revealed the identities of the four witnesses who attended the ceremony. They were Miguel Paixao, a close friend of Ronaldo’s from his youth days at Sporting Lisbon; Ivana Rodriguez, Georgina’s sister; and Jose Rodriguez Sangil and Monica Gonzalez Martinez, a Spanish jeweller and his wife who are close to the couple. Notably absent from the ceremony were Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, and his siblings Hugo, Elma and Katia, although his mother later publicly congratulated the couple on social media following the wedding.
The marriage was formalised by registrar Maria Manuel Folhadela de Oliveira, who travelled from Porto specifically to conduct the ceremony. According to the marriage documents, the couple opted for a “separation of property” regime, meaning each spouse generally retains ownership of assets they held before the wedding, as well as anything acquired individually afterward. This arrangement is not the default model for marriages in Portugal, meaning couples must specifically sign a prenuptial agreement to adopt it.
Reports indicate that Ronaldo and Georgina signed the prenuptial agreement on August 10, just one day before their wedding, at a public notary’s office in Lisbon. The agreement legally ensured that their pre-marriage assets would remain separate as they entered married life together after roughly a decade-long relationship.
The couple’s decision to keep the ceremony private came as something of a surprise given the intense public interest surrounding their nuptials. In the days leading up to the wedding, hundreds of fans reportedly gathered outside Funchal Cathedral in Madeira, Ronaldo’s birthplace, after rumours spread that the couple would marry there. However, the crowd had mistakenly assembled for a different couple entirely, and Ronaldo later appeared to find the mix-up amusing, responding to footage of the confusion with laughing emojis on social media.
Ronaldo and Georgina’s marriage was ultimately confirmed after both shared photographs on social media showing off their wedding rings, ending months of speculation about when the couple, who announced their engagement exactly one year before the ceremony, would formalise their relationship. Following the wedding, the pair returned to Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo continues preparations for the new season with Al-Nassr, having been granted special leave to delay his return to training after this summer’s World Cup.
