Ferran Torres PSG Transfer: World Cup Winner Signs From Barcelona
Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Spain international Ferran Torres from Barcelona, bringing the World Cup final match-winner to the Parc des Princes on a five-year contract running until 2031.
The 26-year-old forward, who scored the extra-time winner as Spain beat Argentina in last month’s World Cup final in East Rutherford, New Jersey, joins the reigning European champions for a reported fee of around €50 million ($58 million), according to French sports daily L’Equipe. PSG confirmed the signing in an official statement on Saturday, though the club did not disclose financial details of the deal.
“Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce it has secured the services of Ferran Torres. The Spanish World Cup-winning forward has signed with the Club until 2031,” the statement read. Torres, who will wear the number 9 jersey in Paris, expressed excitement over the move, saying he was delighted to begin a new chapter at such an ambitious club, and thanked club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, sporting adviser Luis Campos and head coach Luis Enrique for the opportunity to join the squad.
The transfer reunites Torres with Luis Enrique, who gave the forward his international debut for Spain in a Nations League match against Germany back in 2020. Speaking after the signing was confirmed, Luis Enrique described Torres as a top-class international player the club knows well, adding that he expects the forward to adapt quickly to PSG’s style of play.
Torres joined Barcelona from Manchester City in the January 2022 transfer window and went on to become an important figure at Camp Nou, scoring 65 goals in 207 appearances across four and a half seasons. During his time in Catalonia, he won seven trophies, including three LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups, notably scoring in the Copa del Rey final victory over Real Madrid in 2025. Last season alone, he registered 21 goals and three assists in 49 appearances across all competitions as Barcelona retained their LaLiga title. In a statement, Barcelona thanked Torres for his commitment over his time at the club and wished him well for the next stage of his career.
Torres, who also won Euro 2024 with Spain, becomes PSG’s latest attacking reinforcement following the departures of Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan and Randal Kolo Muani, who completed a permanent move to Juventus after a loan spell at Tottenham. He joins a star-studded PSG frontline that already includes Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and new signing Maghnes Akliouche, with Luis Enrique keen to add further attacking depth and competition for places ahead of the new campaign.
The Spanish forward, who started his career as a winger before being deployed primarily as a No. 9 over the past two seasons, said PSG’s hunger for success despite already having won back-to-back Champions League titles was part of what convinced him to make the move. His arrival in the French capital has also fuelled speculation over the future of PSG winger Bradley Barcola, who has been strongly linked with a potential summer move to Liverpool.
