Broda Shaggi Breaks Silence, Says He’s Coming Back Stronger
Nigerian comedian and skit maker Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has broken his months-long public silence, thanking fans for their patience and hinting at an imminent return to the spotlight following an alleged shooting incident earlier this year.
The comedian, who had largely disappeared from social media, live shows, and public appearances since March, shared an emotional message on his WhatsApp channel on Friday, expressing gratitude to supporters who had continued to check on him throughout his prolonged absence. He acknowledged that he had been unable to engage with his audience the way he would have liked, but said the continued loyalty of his fans had carried real meaning for him during what he described as a difficult period.
Shaggi stopped short of detailing exactly what he had been through, indicating he was not yet ready to share the full story but promising to do so eventually. He assured fans that despite his silence, he had not forgotten them and remained focused on the day he could fully reconnect with his audience. He went on to pledge a stronger comeback, telling supporters he intended to make up for the time lost during his absence, and closed the message by expressing deep appreciation for those who had remained patient with him.
The update comes months after reports first emerged that Shaggi had sustained a gunshot injury to the leg while filming a comedy skit around the Sango-Ota Bridge area of Ogun State in March. According to earlier accounts, the incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon while the comedian and his crew were on location, after which he was said to have received initial treatment at a hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos before being transferred to another facility in the Government Residential Area (GRA) of Ikeja.
At the time, the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting remained unclear, and the Ogun State Police Command said it was unable to confirm that the incident had taken place within the state. The command’s spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified information while investigations into the matter continued.
Shaggi’s re-emergence after months out of the public eye has been welcomed by fans across social media, many of whom had expressed growing concern over his extended silence and speculated widely about his wellbeing in the absence of an official update. While questions remain about the precise details of what he experienced, his latest message signals that a fuller account, along with a return to his usual comedic content, may not be far off.
