Mr Macaroni Opens Up on Financial Struggles, Thanks Don Jazzy, Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji for Support
Nigerian content creator and activist Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has opened up about a deeply challenging chapter of his life, revealing that music executive Don Jazzy, Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji were among those who stood by him through a period of significant financial hardship.
Mr Macaroni made the disclosure in an emotional post on X on Saturday, saying he had been moved to tears after reading messages from people recounting acts of kindness he had shown them over the years, many of which he admitted he could no longer even recall. According to him, the outpouring of messages helped him realise he had been focusing too heavily on what he had lost rather than remaining grateful for the help God had sent his way during his struggles. He explained that he had always found it easier to give to others than to receive help himself, noting that people often assumed he had more than enough resources and therefore did not need any support.
He went on to describe how one particular individual had repeatedly helped settle debts he had accumulated, an intervention he said he believed could only have come through divine orchestration. “God used one person to settle all that I owed! And this help came over and over again! I don’t think any sane person would do what he did for me without God’s intervention!” he wrote. He did not name the individual responsible for that specific assistance.
Mr Macaroni reserved particular gratitude for Don Jazzy, the Mavin Records boss and veteran music executive, saying he had continued to support him financially since his university days. “To Don Jazzy, who has been giving me since my university days up till now, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do, not just for me but for so many others!!!” he wrote. He also extended thanks to Osimhen and Pastor Bolaji, though he did not disclose further details about the specific nature of their support. Addressing his wider circle of friends and fans, whom he affectionately refers to as “Mr Macaroni & Friends,” he wrote, “Thank you for not neglecting me even when you had every reason to. Thank you for saving me.”
Reflecting on where he stands today, Mr Macaroni said he was now in a much better place, focusing on learning and engaging in activities that bring him happiness. He maintained that, despite the difficulties he faced, he held no regrets over any of the ways he had tried to make other people’s lives better, however small those gestures may have been. “I don’t and will never regret anything I have ever done in my life to make the lives of others better in even the smallest way possible,” he said.
The heartfelt post quickly drew a wave of reactions from fans, followers and colleagues, several of whom shared their own accounts of the actor and content creator’s generosity. One content creator recalled Mr Macaroni supporting his early YouTube shoots, while another follower described receiving financial assistance from him during a chance encounter at a visa renewal office. Mr Macaroni’s willingness to speak openly about both his struggles and the support he received has continued to resonate widely among his large following in the days since the post was shared.
