Tate McRae, Zach Bryan Debut in Billboard Hot 100 Top 5
Tate McRae’s new single “Housewife” debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Zach Bryan’s “Lies,” featuring Lana Del Rey, enters at No. 4, according to Billboard’s chart for the week dated October 31, 2026. NPR Music’s Stephen Thompson reported on the new entries on October 30.
What the chart shows
According to Billboard, “Housewife” launched with 22.9 million streams, a 12.7 million airplay audience and 4,000 copies sold in its first full tracking week. The song and its video arrived on October 15.
The debut is McRae’s highest Hot 100 placement as a lead artist, Billboard says. It also debuts atop the Streaming Songs chart, giving her a second No. 1 there and her first in a lead role.
Rolling Stone reports that “Housewife” won a tight race for No. 2 against Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift, and Bryan and Del Rey, after the song topped Spotify’s Global chart midweek.
Billboard’s chart highlights add that the song also arrives at No. 1 on the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts.
Bryan, Rodrigo and Roan
Bryan’s “Lies” enters at No. 4 with 19.6 million streams and 5,000 copies sold. It was released on October 16 on his new eight-song set, Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs, according to Billboard.
The song ties Del Rey’s highest Hot 100 showing and is her third top 10, after her featured role on Taylor Swift’s “Snow on the Beach” in 2022 and her own “Summertime Sadness” with Cedric Gervais in 2013, Billboard says.
The album debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, Top Rock Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts, his fifth on each, according to Billboard.
At No. 3, Rodrigo and Roan’s “Expectations” jumped from No. 63 after the October 15 release of a remix adding Roan. It was released in June as a solo track on Rodrigo’s album you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, and peaked at No. 20 in that form, Billboard reports.

Reactions and the other side
Billboard’s staff debated which debut will last longest. One writer backed “Housewife” as a new song with staying power, while another picked “Lies” as a new song with two big names.
Another writer said the “Expectations” remix did its job for one of the year’s best-performing albums.
The artists have not commented on their chart positions in the sources reviewed.
Why it matters and what happens next
Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” rebounded to No. 1 for a record-extending 25th week, with Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” at No. 5, according to Billboard and Music Times.
Billboard notes that three songs crashed the top five in one week. Whether the new entries hold their positions will be clear on next week’s chart.
