Tinubu Declared Winner of APC Presidential Primary With 10.9 Million Votes
President Bola Tinubu has been declared the winner of the presidential primary election of the All Progressives Congress after polling 10,999,162 votes to secure the party’s ticket for the 2027 presidential election.
The declaration was made by the chairman and returning officer of the APC Presidential Primary Election Committee, who announced the results after the nationwide collation of votes conducted across party structures in the country. Tinubu defeated his only challenger, Stanley Osifo, who polled 16,503 votes in the exercise.
According to figures released after the primary, more than 12 million party members were registered for the process, while over 11 million members were accredited to vote during the nationwide exercise conducted across wards and local government areas. Party officials described the process as transparent and peaceful.
The outcome officially positions Tinubu as the APC presidential candidate for the 2027 general election and strengthens his bid for a second term in office. Political observers say the landslide result reflects the president’s continued dominance within the ruling party and signals strong internal backing ahead of the national contest.
Party leaders and supporters reportedly celebrated the result at the collation venue, describing the primary as a major show of unity within the APC. Some stakeholders argued that the outcome demonstrates confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and policy direction as preparations for the next election cycle continue.
Attention is now expected to shift toward broader political alignments as opposition parties intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 election. Analysts believe the emergence of Tinubu as APC candidate could accelerate coalition talks and strategic repositioning among rival political groups seeking to challenge the ruling party.
Tinubu, while reacting after the declaration, reportedly expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future and pledged continued economic reforms and national development if given another mandate. Political stakeholders across the country are expected to closely monitor developments as the race toward the 2027 presidential election gradually gathers momentum.
